With a distinguished career in public service and decades of leadership in the government relations community, Chet’s vision and counsel are vital assets for Tremont Strategies clients and team members alike. As a founding partner of the firm, his experience informs and inspires transformative results for clients at both the state and federal level.

As Congressman for the 5th District of Massachusetts, Chet served as a Member of the House Appropriations Committee, the Public Works Committee (now Transportation and Infrastructure), and the Ethics and Budget Committees.

Prior to his time on Capitol Hill, Chet was elected to both the Massachusetts House of Representatives and the State Senate, where he served for more than 10 years. During that time, he was Chairman of the Senate Ways and Means Committee, leading notable reforms to modernize the state's budgeting process. 

Chet has served on the boards of many public and private companies, including US Trust Company, Walden Asset Management and GrainPro, as well as philanthropic and community organizations including Oxfam America, Amnesty International, Emerson Hospital, Greater Lowell Community Foundation and Earthwatch Institute. 

A firm believer in the vital importance of democratic systems, Chet has also made an impact on the global stage as an election observer and legislative trainer for newly-elected governments in Cambodia, Yemen, Albania, Republic of Georgia, Peru, and Guatemala.
